A CAMPAIGN UPDATE  - November 2009
We continue to raise funds for our new Church through the many generous pledges of our parishioners.  In addition to these pledges, various groups help raise funds through special events.  Back in August our Filipino community had a Luau Dinner Dance with the proceeds going to our building project and they were able to donate $3,634 to our campaign.  Your participation in such special events greatly benefits our campaign.  The next special event will be sponsored by the Ministry to Young Adults (MYA) and is a New Year’s celebration at the Knight’s of Columbus Hall.  This event is for all adults and is a safe environment to ring in the New Year.  Please make plans to share in this celebration and fund raising effort.  More details in the coming weeks.

A CAMPAIGN UPDATE  - March 2009
The architect hired by Sacred Heart Church to assist in our building plans is Mr. Daniel White.  Dan White is a member of St. John Vianney Church in Hacienda Heights, CA.  He is married and has three children.  At the parish Dan is involved in youth ministry, liturgy and the parish festival.  Dan also volunteers for the Archdiocese as a member of the Archdiocesan Liturgical Commission, Office of Worships Liturgical Design Review Committee, and as a Master of Ceremonies as the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels.  Dan also gives lectures and classes in various liturgical subjects for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and the dioceses of Orange, San Bernardino and San Diego.

Dan began his architecture apprenticeship in 1985 after graduating from Cal Poly Pomona with a degree in Architecture.  Working for Armando Ruiz and Associates for 15 years, Dan developed a love and reputation for the design of churches and parish related buildings.  This is also where his interests in Liturgical Consultation and Design were fostered and grew.  Dan developed a reputation specializing in Master Planning for religious communities.

In the year 2000 Dan decided to begin his own Architecture practice.  Two weeks after opening the doors of Daniel D. White – Architects, the first commission was received – the design of a Master Plan for St. Euphrasia Church in Granada Hills, CA.  Since that time Daniel D. White – Architects has worked on more than 120 projects for parishes and individuals in Southern California.  Project types include Master Planning, Architecture, Liturgical Consultation, and Liturgical Design of new and renovated Churches, Halls, Parish Centers, Rectories, School and Gymnasiums.

We are very fortunate to have Dan working as our Parish Building Architect.

December 2008
As Our Faith, Our Family and Our Future moves forward, let me give you this important update.  Please pass on this information, either verbally or written, to others who might inquire about our campaign.  As your pastor it is my honor to move toward building a new church with all of you.  Like many of you, I have made a five year pledge to this important and historic project.  As we continue to raise the necessary funds to build, here is where we stand.  As of December 31, 2008 we were just beyond $1.3 million in cash received since our pledge campaign began.  This does not include the monies in the building fund raised while Fr. John was here, approximately $1 million, which was to help acquire the property from the city.

Along with raising money to build, another important piece in moving forward is acquiring the property.  In 2004 we had a communication from the city concerning the cost of the property (this property is from Beech to Cedar and from Kettering to Jackman, part of which we already own).  We are nearing completing this land acquisition.  In December I met with Mayor R. Rex Parris and he is anxious to move this forward.  I believe in the next few months we should have the land.

Once we acquire the property we will have a significant Mass on our new property, the future site of the new Church.  This will be a huge outdoor Mass, so many factors will be considered when choosing the date and time.  After this we will began the preparation of this property for our new Church and parking area.  It will be at this time when several hall meetings will take place to educate you on Church architect and to elicit input from you about the new Church.

These are exciting times and I thank all of those who have made pledges, all who were part of the Campaign Committee and those who continue to work on Our Faith, Our Family, Our Future

                                                   Blessings to you all,

Fr. Tom

Important Note about Billing
All gifts made to the campaign are 100% tax deductible.  Once we receive and process your gift, you will receive a thank you and acknowledgement letter, and then a reminder statement with a return envelope (depending on when you chose to start your gift and how often you chose to pay it).  Due to the recent influx of gifts please allow 2-4 weeks to receive information from the Campaign office.  Included with your letter, you will also receive a form for electronic funds transfer.  This is not mandatory, we just include it for your convenience.  Please be sure to use the yellow campaign envelopes to make your payments so that your payment goes to the Campaign fund.  Any other questions?  Please call the Rectory office at 661-942-7122 and ask for Cathy who is handling redemption.
