Prayer to the Sacred Heart

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I remember your gentle invitation to

"Come...and I will give you rest." I bring you now all my worries, fears,

needs and doubts, and those of my world. I entrust to you my loved ones,

both living and deceased. Enfold us all in your love, now and evermore.

The heart has always been a symbol for love. It seems fitting that the love of God became represented by the heart of Christ. In him, God the Father revealed his infinite love for us. The Month of June is dedicated to his Sacred Heart and on the Friday after the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Here at the Parish we celebrate that day in a special way with Mass and dinner to follow.

In the Gospel, we hear our dear Lord tell us, "Come to me, all you who are weary and find life burdensome, and I will refresh you. Take my yoke upon your shoulders and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble of heart. Your souls will rest, for my yoke is easy and my burden light" (Mt 11:28-30).

The heart of Christ reveals to us the infinite mercy of the Father, his gentleness and compassion toward all his children as he leads us to know him as he truly is: Love. At Sacred Heart Church we know that we are all individual parts of the mystical Body of Christ. Working, playing and praying together, we find great joy in spreading the love of Christ’s heart to all.

"There is in the Sacred Heart the symbol and express image of the infinite love of Jesus Christ which moves us to love in return." -- Pope Leo XIII

The Twelve Promises of Jesus to Saint Margaret Mary for those devoted to His Sacred Heart:

  1. I will give them all the graces necessary for their state of life.
  2. I will establish peace in their families.
  3. I will console them in all their troubles.
  4. They shall find in My Heart an assured refuge during life and especially at the hour of their death.
  5. I will pour abundant blessings on all their undertakings.
  6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source of an infinite ocean of mercy.
  7. Tepid souls shall become fervent.
  8. Fervent souls shall speedily rise to great perfection.
  9. I will bless the homes where an image of My Heart shall be exposed and honored.
  10. I will give to priests the power of touching the most hardened hearts.
  11. Those who propagate this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be effaced.
  12. The all-powerful love of My Heart will grant to all those who shall receive Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under my displeasure, nor without receiving their Sacraments; My heart shall be their assured refuge at that last hour.

"Look at this Heart which has loved men so much, and yet men do not want to love me in return. Through you my divine Heart wishes to spread its love everywhere on earth."
