Our Lady of Charity St. Vincent de Paul in Lancaster, CA
Conference Mission Statement
Our mission is to bear witness to Christ and to His Church by showing that the faith of Christians inspires them to work for the good of their fellow human beings; to bring together men and women of good will and to assist them, by mutual example and true friendship, to draw nearer to their Divine Model, Jesus Christ, by fulfilling His commandment—namely the love of God in their fellow man by establishing a personal contact between its members and those who are suffering, and to bring to the suffering the most efficacious aid possible.
God, our Father, you alone have the power to bestow those precious gifts of yours which we rightly call miracles. If it be your will, be pleased to grant such a gift on all those suffering from Covid-19. We humbly ask that you grant this favor so that Blessed Frederic Ozanam may be canonized by our Holy Mother the Church. we make this prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son.
Amen.
April is the Month of the Holy Eucharist
Prayer to Our Lady of Charity
“Dear Mother Mary, Our Lady of
Charity, I come before you, with
faith and devotion.
Pray for me that I may grow
deeply in my spiritual journey.
Give me the wisdom to discern
with clear understanding the holy
path to my walk of faith. Guide me
to help the poor with love and
compassion.
Dear God, bless me with your
bountiful grace that I may serve
You with humility and joy.
This I ask, through our Lady’s
intercession in Jesus’ Name.
Amen.”

President's Message
Dear Vincentians, March was a productive month. Site 2 warehouse construction has begun. The area for the curbing has been dug out and the footings for the warehouse are ready to be poured.
Despite this construction challenge, Site 2 was able to handle the clothing drive which was successful. Paraclete High School really came through for us as well as St. Serra Church. Fr. Claudio would like to do another clothing drive this summer. We should have enough men’s clothing to keep us in stock for months.
Site 2 will have a mini garage sale on April 6 thdespite the construction. We will need help at both sites on that day, it will be “all hands on deck”.
I am certain you are all excited to know that our canned food drive begins the end of April (April 27/38) at both churches. We are doing this food drive in one day. Food pickup is May 4/5. Paraclete will assist us on Sunday, May 5 to sort food. We will need 3 pickup trucks, 1 at St. Serra, 2 at Sacred Heart. It works best to have 3 people with each truck. All volunteers welcome.
Candace and I went to the St. Vincent Regional Meeting. There was a beautiful Mass with a children’s choir from one of the local Catholic Churches. Approximately 400 Vincentians attended. Fr. Phil, a Norbertine Priest, was the celebrant and keynote speaker. Paul was able to speak with Chris Raneri, North SF President and Souncirie Pandy, our north and south coordinator. They informed us that Palmdale SV and Lake LA SV are now dormant. Souncirie will arrange an Ozanam Training with us via Zoom.
The next SV Regional meeting is August 11, 2024. It would be nice to have others join us.
We want to thank April and Cathy for taking on the grant program. It is a very tedious job and their efforts are greatly appreciated.
Please say prayers for Mary Jo, Robert, Karen, and Frank. We want them to get through their health issues soon, we miss them.
It has been difficult with so many people out. I want to thank all of you who have stepped up in our time of need.
God Bless and thank you all for your hard work! Paul
OLCC President
Prayer from St. Vincent de Paul Regional Meeting
Open my eyes that I may see the deepest needs of men, women, and children.
Move my hands that they may feed the hungry.
Touch my heart that it may bring warmth to the despairing.
Teach me the generosity that welcomes strangers.
Give me the care that strengthens the sick.
Help me share in the quest to set prisoners free.
Let me share my time, my talents, my possessions, and myself with people in need.
In sharing our anxieties and our love, our poverty and our prosperity.
We partake of your divine presence, Amen.
Prayer CornerPrayers for our clients, that their needs be met with compassion. Prayers for our Church and community, that more people join us contributing their time, talent, and treasure. Anyone who wishes to add names can contact SVDP at [email protected]. We would love to hear from you and hope that all our fellow Vincentians will lift all people in prayer.
