On August 19, the National Religious Campaign Against Torture (NRCAT) will be holding an interfaith prayer vigil at the State Capitol in support of the California Mandela Act on Solitary Confinement.
We will gather in solidarity with solitary survivors, political leadership, and others in support of AB 280, the CA Mandela Act, which would severely limit the use of solitary confinement in California prisons.
Solitary confinement is a moral emergency. Too many have suffered under the cruel and destructive punishment of solitary, and we, as faith leaders, must say to Governor Newsom: “End Solitary Now.”
Please join us in asking Governor Newsom to take action and End the Torture of Solitary Confinement. With Newsom's support, it can be passed and signed into law.
If you can't join us in person, please call his office now and ask him to commit to signing AB 280 - the CA Mandela Act.
