National Child Abuse Prevention month

As we commemorate National Child Abuse Prevention Month this April throughout the Archdiocese, we reaffirm our longstanding commitment to supporting survivor-victims of abuse, protecting minors and the vulnerable, and doing all we can to ensure that our parishes, schools and ministries are safe places for everyone in our communities.

 

To assist our parishes and schools in informing your communities of the programs and services available to survivor-victims and the ongoing efforts to prevent abuse, the Archdiocese has mailed this week to each parish and school the following materials for distribution:

 

• Posters in English and Spanish with a comprehensive overview of our outreach to survivor-victims, reporting and prevention efforts.
• Prayer cards to offer our continued prayers for those who may be suffering in our communities. Please place the posters and prayer cards in public places where they can be easily seen by those visiting or worshiping at the parish.
• A sample printout of the poster in flier size. The flier is available online at https://lacatholics.org/protect/protect-resources/. This flier can be inserted in your parish bulletins, distributed at the end of Mass, or placed near the bulletins to be picked up by the faithful and visitors. Schools can display posters in public spaces and distribute the flier as appropriate.

 

Additionally, the webpage lacatholics.org/protectprovides important information on our on-going efforts to support survivor-victims and reporting suspected misconduct coordinated through our Victims Assistance Ministry; trainings offered by the Office of Safeguard the Children for adults and minors on abuse prevention; and the longstanding history of our efforts to provide transparency on how these matters are handled. We hope this page serves as a resource to share this information with your parish community this April, Child Abuse Prevention Month, and throughout the year.

Al conmemorar el Mes Nacional de la Prevención del Abuso este abril en nuestra Arquidiócesis, reafirmamos nuestro compromiso de larga de data de apoyo a los sobrevivientes-víctimas de abuso, la protección de los menores y de los más vulnerables, y hacer todo lo posible para asegurar que nuestras parroquias, escuelas y ministerios sean lugares seguros para todos en nuestras comunidades.

 

Para ayudar a nuestras parroquias y escuelas a informar a sus comunidades sobre los programas y servicios disponibles para los sobrevivientes-víctimas y los esfuerzos continuos para prevenir el abuso, la Arquidiócesis ha enviado esta semana por correo a cada parroquia y escuela los siguientes materiales para su distribución:

 

• Pósters en inglés y español con una descripción integral de nuestro alcance a los sobrevivientes-víctimas, informes y esfuerzos de prevención.
• Tarjetas de oración para ofrecer nuestras oraciones continuas por aquellos que puedan estar sufriendo en nuestras comunidades. Por favor coloque los carteles y las tarjetas de oración en lugares públicos donde puedan ser vistos fácilmente por quienes visitan o llegan a orar a la parroquia.
• Una copia impresa de muestra del póster en tamaño volante. El volante y los demás materiales que se han enviado por correo están disponibles en línea en el sitio web, https://lacatholics.org/protect/protect-resources/. Este volante puede insertarse en los boletines parroquiales, distribuirse al final de la Misa o colocarse cerca de los boletines para que los fieles y visitantes los puedan llevar. Las escuelas pueden exhibir el póster en espacios públicos y distribuir el volante si lo consideran apropiado.

 

Además esta página web, https://lacatholics.org/protect/, proporciona información importante sobre nuestros esfuerzos continuos para apoyar a los sobrevivientes-víctimas y para denunciar sospechas de mala conducta en coordinación con nuestro Ministerio de Asistencia a las Víctimas; y a través de nuestras capacitaciones de la Oficina Protegiendo a los Niños (Safeguard the Children) para adultos y menores sobre la prevención de abusos; y a través de la larga historia de nuestros esfuerzos por dar transparencia al manejo de estos asuntos.
