Our Lady of Charity St. Vincent de Paul in Lancaster, CA
Conference Mission Statement
Our mission is to bear witness to Christ and to His Church by showing that the faith of Christians inspires them to work for the good of their fellow human beings; to bring together men and women of good will and to assist them, by mutual example and true friendship, to draw nearer to their Divine Model, Jesus Christ, by fulfilling His commandment—namely the love of God in their fellow man by establishing a personal contact between its members and those who are suffering, and to bring to the suffering the most efficacious aid possible.
God, our Father, you alone have the power to bestow those precious gifts of yours which we rightly call miracles. If it be your will, be pleased to grant such a gift on all those suffering from Covid-19. We humbly ask that you grant this favor so that Blessed Frederic Ozanam may be canonized by our Holy Mother the Church. we make this prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son.
Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Charity
“Dear Mother Mary, Our Lady of
Charity, I come before you, with
faith and devotion.
Pray for me that I may grow
deeply in my spiritual journey.
Give me the wisdom to discern
with clear understanding the holy
path to my walk of faith. Guide me
to help the poor with love and
compassion.
Dear God, bless me with your
bountiful grace that I may serve
You with humility and joy.
This I ask, through our Lady’s
intercession in Jesus’ Name.
Amen.”

President's Message
Dear Vincentians, The three main things we focus on during Lent are prayer, fasting, and giving – or charity.
Giving of ourselves is a way to respond to God’s grace, generosity, and love. St. Vincent’s does require a big commitment and all of you have stepped up to the challenge. March will be another month that we will have to give a lot of our time, another challenge. We have our clothing drive at St. Serra; the church announcement is March 2nd and 3rd. We pickup the donated clothes the next 2 weekends: March 9/10 and March 14/15. Fr. Claudio is all in on the clothing drive. He has requested that we not only put a basket to collect the clothes in the vestibule of the church, but also put baskets in the chapel starting this Friday for adoration. The Easter Basket Food Distribution is on March 28th. We need another set of drivers to make deliveries. The number of seniors we deliver to is constantly increasing. We also need 3 more runners and 4 or 5 people to work in the kitchen. St Vincent will be closed for Holy Saturday, March 30th and reopens on Monday. We will still collect bread that morning for those of you who can come in at 7:15 and help. Site 2 is ready to start construction! We never thought we would hear that. They will be pouring the curb and gutter cement so the fire hydrant can be installed. The steel building arrives this month. Once the fire hydrant is in, we are ready to go. The new warehouse will quadruple the space at Site 2. Site 2 will be open on a day-to-day basis during construction. If anyone is interested, we need a volunteer to apply for grants from major chains. This is a very important position and will require a volunteer’s full attention. We send out our prayers and best wishes to Mary Jo and Karen. We miss them and their generous spirit. Please don’t forget to contact Congressman Garcia to keep our foreign priests in the U.S. March is a special month with the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Remember to keep those in your prayers whom we have prayed for in our closing prayers at our bi-weekly meetings. Prayers do work as we have heard and seen recoveries of those we have prayed for. The fundamental basis of this nation’s laws was given to Moses on the Mount. The fundamental basis of our Bill of Rights comes from the teachings we get from Exodus and Saint Matthew, from Isaiah and Saint Paul . . . . If we don’t have a proper fundamental moral background, we will finally end up with a totalitarian government which does not believe in rights for anybody except the State! Harry Truman / 33rd President Have a Happy and Blessed Easter. God Bless, Paul

A Message From Bishop Barron
Jesus commands us to be reconciled with one another. One reason we do not forgive is that we feel that some injustice has been done to us, and we resent it. A good cure for this feeling is to kneel before the cross of Jesus. What do you see there? The innocent Son of God nailed to the cross – the ultimate injustice. What does he do? He forgives his persecutors. Meditate on that, and your sense of being treated unjustly will fade away. Bishop Robert Barron
