Our Lady of Charity St. Vincent de Paul in Lancaster, CA
Conference Mission Statement
Our mission is to bear witness to Christ and to His Church by showing that the faith of Christians inspires them to work for the good of their fellow human beings; to bring together men and women of good will and to assist them, by mutual example and true friendship, to draw nearer to their Divine Model, Jesus Christ, by fulfilling His commandment—namely the love of God in their fellow man by establishing a personal contact between its members and those who are suffering, and to bring to the suffering the most efficacious aid possible.

God, our Father, you alone have the power to bestow those precious gifts of yours which we rightly call miracles. If it be your will, be pleased to grant such a gift on all those suffering from Covid-19. We humbly ask that you grant this favor so that Blessed Frederic Ozanam may be canonized by our Holy Mother the Church. we make this prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son.
Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Charity
“Dear Mother Mary, Our Lady of
Charity, I come before you, with
faith and devotion.
Pray for me that I may grow
deeply in my spiritual journey.
Give me the wisdom to discern
with clear understanding the holy
path to my walk of faith. Guide me
to help the poor with love and
compassion.
Dear God, bless me with your
bountiful grace that I may serve
You with humility and joy.
This I ask, through our Lady’s
intercession in Jesus’ Name.
Amen.”

President's Message
Dear Vincentians,
We had our Quarterly Mass this June at Sacred Heart Church. I want to thank all those who participated and
those who did the preparation and setup. It was a perfect evening with a lot of food We have four new
Vincentians: Bob, April, Cheryl, and Claudia. You four are a blessing to us and we thank you for your
commitment to God’s work at our organization. I want to thank Bob and April for the beautiful prayer table.
This was Tish’s last Quarterly Mass with us. Many thanks for her outstanding service. She was the backbone
of the garage sales and our dinners. She leaves some big shoes to fill. We will miss her and her energy. God
speed in your new adventure, Tish.
On July 13and 14, we have envelope distribution at St. Serra. I cannot emphasize enough how important this fund raiser is to our conference. I am requesting all hands-on deck to be available to pass out the envelopes after each Mass at St. Serra. We have had an increased demand for our services that has necessitated a need to expand. Our costs to stay open have increased substantially. We need everyone to be involved.
I came across Early Christian Writings called Didache, The Lord’s Teaching Through the Twelve Apostles to
the Nations. These are the first writings from the Apostles. I will present a new chapter in each upcoming
newsletter.
Chapter 1. The Two Ways and the First Commandment. There are two ways, one of life and one of death,
but a great difference between the two ways. The way of life, then, is this: First, you shall love God who made you; second, love your neighbor as yourself, and do not do to another what you would not want done to you. And of these sayings the teaching is this: Bless those who curse you, and pray for your enemies, and fast for those who persecute you. For what reward is there for loving those who love you? Do not the Gentiles do the same? But love those who hate you, and you shall not have an enemy. Abstain from fleshly and worldly lusts. If someone strikes your right cheek, turn to him the other also, and you shall be perfect. If someone impresses you for one mile, go with him two. If someone takes your cloak, give him also your coat. If someone takes from you what is yours, ask it not back, for indeed you are not able. Give to every one who asks you, and ask it not back; for the Father wills that to all should be given of our own blessings (free gifts). Happy is he who gives according to the commandment, for he is guiltless. Woe to him who receives; for if one receives who has need, he is guiltless; but he who receives not having need shall pay the penalty, why he received and for what. And coming into confinement, he shall be examined concerning the things which he has done, and he shall not escape from there until he pays back the last penny. And also concerning this, it has been said, Let your alms sweat in your hands, until you know to whom you should give.
Here is a small sample of the convictions of some of the Founders:
It cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion but on the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Have a Happy and Safe4 th of July. I will count your fingers when you return on Monday.
